Family

The Côte Fleurie, stretching along the Seine estuary, takes its name from the flower-lined villas that built Deauville and Trouville’s reputation from the 19th century onward. An elegant stretch of coast, with its boardwalks, casinos and seaside villas, that also offers a relaxed family route between the two twin resorts and the small village of Villerville.

A loop between seaside resorts

From Deauville, the route follows the seafront to Trouville-sur-Mer, separated by the Touques estuary, then continues toward Villerville on quieter coastal roads. Expect around 25 km and 150 m of cumulative climbing for the full loop — a gentle profile despite a few rolling stretches leaving the resorts.

Getting the ride right

The surface, mostly cycle path or quiet small road, works well for a family outing. Both resorts have plenty of shops and places to eat for a break along the way.

When to go

May to September, with June and September avoiding the summer crowds, particularly heavy in Deauville during its film festival or horse racing season.

Good to know

Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer offer a wide choice of accommodation, from grand seaside hotels to simpler guesthouses, with convenient access to Honfleur to extend the trip beyond cycling.

Frequently asked questions

Can you cycle to Honfleur from Deauville?+

Technically yes, using the pedestrian-cyclist path on the Pont de Normandie, but it isn't a suitable route for a family outing: the crossing is long, exposed to wind, and the bridge deck sits over 50 m above the estuary. Better to save Honfleur for a separate visit, by car or bus.

Are the beaches accessible directly from the path?+

Yes, Deauville's famous boardwalk and Trouville's seafront both run right along the sand, with several access points for a swim break along the way.
