Métabief, in the Haut-Doubs, has established itself as one of the go-to MTB bike parks in the Jura massif. Served by a chairlift from the village, the resort combines groomed bike park runs with forest singletrack typical of the Jura.

From Métabief, the chairlift gives access to a network of trails that descends through the Jura forest toward the valley. Expect around 15 km of cumulative descending on a typical day, with 200 m of residual climbing, most of the elevation being handled by the lift. The terrain alternates groomed bike park runs with more technical singletrack through the woods, between fir trees and clearings.
Getting the ride right
The resort grades its trails by level, making it easy to build a progressive day starting on the blue and green runs before venturing onto the more committing red and black tracks. The forest terrain, sometimes damp depending on the weather, can get slippery after rain — worth watching for roots and shaded sections.
When to go
June to September, the season the lift dedicated to mountain biking is open. Early summer benefits from a still-cool forest, while the late season brings particularly pleasant light through the Jura woods.
