In the Sauerland, Bikepark Winterberg has established itself as one of Germany’s benchmark MTB destinations, regularly hosting UCI Mountain Bike World Cup downhill rounds.
A lift-served terrain park
The bike park offers a network of lift-served trails, from family-friendly paths to technical downhill lines, with around 200 m of elevation drop on the main runs. Riders can string together plenty of descents over a single day pass.
An international downhill stage
Winterberg regularly hosts MTB downhill World Cup rounds, which has allowed the site to build infrastructure and tracks of a very high technical standard, while still keeping more flowing trails for casual visitors.
Getting the ride right
A full-face helmet and knee/elbow pads are recommended as soon as you venture onto the technical tracks — the nature of the bike park, with jumps and rocky sections, calls for the right protective gear.
When to go
May to October, the bike park’s usual opening season outside the winter ski period that takes over the resort.
Good to know
Winterberg, a well-equipped tourist town, offers a wide choice of accommodation and on-site full-suspension MTB rental, so it’s easy to visit without bringing your own bike.
