A flat ride on a former railway line

From Wadebridge, the trail’s central point, it’s about 8 km to Padstow and the same distance to Bodmin, for roughly 32 km round trip depending on the section chosen. Elevation gain is next to nothing, on a sealed surface maintained year-round.

A historic cycle path along the estuary

The Camel Trail follows the route of a former railway line, offering continuous views over the Camel estuary between Padstow and Wadebridge, then over the wooded Cornish countryside toward Bodmin. Part of the UK’s National Cycle Network (Route 32), it’s used by walkers and cyclists alike.

How to approach the ride

With virtually no hills, the route suits any family setup, with or without a trailer, and allows a free stop in Padstow for a lunch break overlooking the harbour.

When to ride it

Year-round, as the path stays rideable even in winter, though April to October is best to enjoy the finest Cornish light and Padstow’s outdoor terraces.
