This stage continues down the Vendée coast, alternating between beaches, coastal pine forests and small seaside towns (Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Brétignolles-sur-Mer). The route stays largely flat, with just a few undulations through dune areas.
Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, roughly halfway, is a good place to restock, with its lively fishing harbour.
Arriving in Les Sables-d’Olonne, the start town of the Vendée Globe sailing race, gives you a wide choice of seafront accommodation to recover before continuing on to La Rochelle.
